Michael, thanks for sharing your knowledge on such matters.
I saved a record of the trade showing the time of execution
(by printing the page of daily activities). What I need now
is a source which provides information on bid/ask to the
minute. Anyone knows where I might find it?

I'll report back to the thread on whether the (buy) order
was executed above the ASK.

I like for someone that can offer an explanation on a trade I did with Datek last Thursday. I was long DISH and the asking price was 23 5/8. I entered a market order to sell DISH at 23 1/2 and the ask price immediately reflected my ask. I saw trades being executed at at 23 1/2 but received no confirmation at 23 1/2. I dropped my price again to 23 7/16 and it immediately changed to 23 7/16. Again I saw trades executed at that price and still no confirmation from Datak. I then upped the ask price to 23 1/2 and it immediately changed to 23 1/2. Again trades executed at this price but still no confirmation. In frustration, I cancelled my sell at 23 1/2 and sold at the market and got executed within seconds.

Can anyone explain what is going on? I feel someone is cheating me and don't know if it is Datek or an Market Maker. I called Datek's Customer Support and he check the time and sales reports and said my orders were being represented (I agree) but since their orders aren't time prioritized (?) the Market Makers can always step in front my order. I don't buy that explanation.

Can the market maker step in front (match my ask price) and execute their trade instead of mine?

Your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Snowy
