In 1996, (the last semi equipment bear market, for those who are new to the sector) there was a rally in April, before going on to make new lows in July. I was half expecting the same this time, since it often happens that prices run up in advance of earnings, but I wasn't sure it was going to work that way, in view of the weakness in earnings and uncertainty about when the recovery will begin. Silly me. Luckily, I am still fully invested, just not margined.
