I think the MediaHawk is attractive to TW and SFA because the darn thing works. CCUR likely has a solid scaling plan (which I am curious as hell to learn about) that is within the budget scheme of TW and SFA. The server isn't the biggest cost driver .. it is the ranks of STBs and the cost of Hollywood Content (license fees). TW would love a bigger CCUR server offering, but the multibox scheme CCUR likely proposed was likely considered acceptable enough. Few other companies have a working solution, in particular, the big mainframe names (SUN, HP, SGI, ...) who are nearly clueless on real-time issues. All of their systems to-date have been standard machines twisted to push IP MPEG packets to buffer intensive (expensive) STBs. I have always been bullish on CCUR, my only frustration is that they want the universe and that isn't smart. Yes their machine can go anywhere and do many things, but the key to growth is complete focus on the low hanging fruit. They need to bend over backwards to make ONCO a go ... perhaps even helping with financing and installs. THE HOTEL CUSTOMER MONEY IS THERE TO BE TAKEN ... ANY DELAY IN MAKING THIS HAPPEN IS LOST REVENUE. As for ONCO, I have looked at them, and what a let-down, but they do have a base of customers and so I'd rather be on their team than running alone. If the SMART money is truly on scene, then a shake-up at ONCO might be in the plans ...the ONCO crowd needs some new management .. one that puts the financing together to deploy IVoD before some SMARTER money comes in to the competition's camp. ANOTHER OPTION WOULD BE FOR CCUR TO BUY ONCO (OR PART OF ONCO). I loved the recent rise, but I think the best is yet to come. Here's my view: DIVA/Sarnoff and NCUBE get cables CCUR gets hotels TNCX gets ships, planes, and colleges SI IVoD patrons get rich(er)
