NEW YORK, April 2 (Reuters) - RJR Nabisco Holdings Corp.
denied reports that it will formally withdraw from the proposed
tobacco settlement. "We stand by the June 20 agreement," company spokeswoman
Peggy Carter told Reuters. "We have no clue where this iscoming from."
Carter said she was responding to news reports, which also
were referred to in comments Thursday by Sen. John McCain of
the Senate Commerce Committee. McCain, who told reporters in
Washington that he could not confirm the reports, said the
tobacco bill would go forward. MORERtr 15:56 04-02-98
