How heartwarming it was to see Robbie Stephens' Dan Niles on CNBC preaching the virtues of patience on Altera and some of the other
PLD players.

Amazing that the CNBC piece, touting the "picks" of its sister outlet Smart Money Interactive, failed to mention to viewers anything about the record of the "expert" being interviewed on these stocks.

For example:

ALTR upgraded by Niles/RS on 9/2/97 from long-term attractive to buy.
Open: 54
Highest price after upgrade: 59 1/2, +10.18%, 9/19/97
Lowest price after upgrade: 28 3/4, -46.75%, 1/2/98

Seeing an analyst preaching the virutes of patience 7 months after the above call and seeing that ALTR has to rise roughly 37% from today's close for an investor to breakeven on that 9/2/97 call makes me want to vomit...

...which, of course, is my reaction to most analysts in general <g>

Good trading,

Tom
