My guess is that Intel will license the Windows NT compilers (C, C++) to MicroSoft and let them handle the sales and distribution.

Hopefully, Intel will make the details available to other third party compiler writers to insure a wide variety of support for the Merced from the ISV community.

As for Merced compilers for other OS's (Sun Solaris, SCO Unix) those companies would most likely be responsible for their own language compilers running on their OS's.
