>I have heard any rumors of what surprises Mr Jobs has in store this time. Maybe a pre-announcement like last time????? Any guesses?<

I don't know what he is going to say but I know where the pressure is. Today I got a direct mail catalogue from MEI/Micro center. Here are the specs:

Processor: 200 MHz (Cyrix)
HD: 2.1 Gig
Ram: 32 Megs
CD: 24x
Style: Mini-Tower
Price: $599 (there was also a $499 model)

Summary: With monitor we are talking about a $850 - $950 unit.

With that kind of pressure Apple has got to answer soon with at least a $999 unit. Actually, a $999 all-in-one unit will be good enough. Even a pre-announce it.

This is also a opportunity to sell Rhapsody by saying "Buy CR1 (due out in May) with a server and you can attach cheap units as thin clients." Maybe do a little show-and-tell.

These are the schools he is talking to and they can't ignore a $500-$600 computer even if they love Apple. I sure hope we hear something.

We have entered the quiet period before Q2 reports. I don't think he
will leak any info this time. To test your patience and confidence,
he will make you endure 2-week waiting time. Unless he wants to
have your votes before reports. Actually, the situation is different
from last time, the current price remains at near local high as
opposed to last time's near local low. Hence, it's not necessary for
the stockholders to get the good/bad news that early. Besides, as
Sam said, we might get a better boost not to leak any info in advance.
I also think Jobs is smart enough not to repeat the same pattern twice
unless there is some purpose.
