Alan,

Sorry, but I think you missed the whole purpose of the church.

<let God be God
and show the goodness of God through works and caring for others
that may at one point in their life lack total fulfillment.>

Hi Alan,

Thank you for the reminder. If only more of us could feel the rightness of this, and follow this unconditionally regardless of persons or circumstances...and without thinking that one of us is the "right" person charitably helping the one who is "wrong."

If I may share something that sticks in my mind:

"The imagined usurping of functions not your own is the basis of fear. The whole world you see reflects the illusion that you have done so, making fear inevitable. To return the function to the One to Whom it belongs is thus the escape from fear. And it is this that lets the memory of love return to you. Do not, then, think that following this guidance is necessary merely because of your own inadequacies. It is the way out of hell for you."

Again Alan, thanks for helping me to remember.

Best,
Charliss

Alan,

Just who do you think has the responsibility to let people know what sin is if it's not the church?

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher. And how shall they preach, except they be sent? -Romans

The scriptures plainly say that by the law is the knowledge of sin. If a man doesn't know what the word says about sin then how do you figure the conscience will be affected?

If men don't understand the severity of the law then they greatly diminish the effective of grace.

BTW if I say that homosexuality is wrong it's because the scriptures condemn it, and I'd rather side with scripture than mans vain philosophies.
