No co-location necessary Bill. GTE/BBN will most likely buy a fast packet pipe from the phone co. to concentrate the ADSL lines. The local telco should do the billing--maybe to the residential customer or to GTE Internetworking. They are a middleman brokering the service for AOL.

BBN no longer exists, its GTE Internetworking now. heres how it looks like it will work...

GTE Inter. will work with the ILECs to get the service deployed, then be responsible for linking it into AOLs network. they will probably work the colocation issues through the CLEC.

now, this contract really doesnt mean a lot for any individual DSl company. simply, i think they intend to use equipment from whichever vendor the ILECs are using.
