Charles,

The scriptures say that salvation is found under only one name. Jesus Christ.

<<Jesus did not show any interest in establishing a church or a religion.>>

Jesus told Peter that upon this rock I will build my church. That rock was the revelation that Jesus was the Son of God and came to be a propitiation for our sins. It's the only church that the gates of hell cannot prevail against.

Anyone seeking eternal life outside of Him is on a vain crusade. -Chris

Char,

You said:
<<Originally of course, Jesus did not show any interest in establishing a church or a
religion. That came after, from others.>>

Jesus did establish a church and that was His whole reason for coming to us and letting Himself die on the cross. The church is the New Covenant in His blood which was shed for all mankind. This was "the" God everyone talks about. Jesus Himself having taken the form of a man and carrying out His plan to redeem mankind. Of all religions only Christianity claims that their God is THE God who created the universe and all mankind. Here are some passages that explain who Jesus is and what happened when He was here. He was raised from death, death could not hold Him. Paul wrote that Jesus is an indestructable life. He sits now in heaven at the right hand of the Father. Imagine that Jesus is alive, now, waiting for the time of His return.

Philippians 2:5-11
5 Have this attitude in yourselves that was in Christ Jesus,
6 who, although He existed in the form of God, he did not regard equality with
God a thing to be grasped,
7 but He emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made
in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming
obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
9 Therefore God also highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name
which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in
heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth,
11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father.

Charliss:

I just wanted to correct one point you made about Jesus. You said:

"Originally of course, Jesus did not show any interest in establishing a church or a religion."

However, Jesus said:

Matt 16:18
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Jesus also commanded his followers to spread the Gospel:

Matt 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.""

Respectfully, Tom

<<One God, many cultures, many languages, many paths....really quite beautiful I think.Too bad, I also think, so much of this original beauty got so twisted through time as other forces impinged on it.>>

THANK YOU! That is what I have been trying to say(although not quite as eloquently) That is why Intolerance,IMO, works directly against God and spirituality, as it blocks others paths to the same destination.
