SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1998--Faroudja Inc. (NASDAQ/NM:FDJA - news) Monday announced that its alliance with Modern Videofilm for the design and development of product specifications for digital-format translators has resulted in Faroudja's new Video Solutions Digital Format Translator line of products for broadcasters, cable and satellite services, and post-production houses.

Modern Videofilm, as one of the largest all-digital post- production facilities in the world, contributed its technical expertise and vast background in film and television client services to Faroudja's concerted efforts in digital-format translation over the past year.

Modern Videofilm's episodic-television clients include ''Walker, Texas Ranger'' (CBS/Amadea); ''Baywatch'' (Baywatch Productions); ''Friends'' (Warner Bros.); ''Home Improvement'' (Disney); ''Star Trek: Voyager,'' ''Star Trek: Next Generation'' and ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' (Paramount); ''Suddenly Susan'' (Warner Bros.), ''Profiler'' (NBC Studios); ''Everybody Loves Raymond'' (Talk Productions); ''Nash Bridges'' (Don Johnson Productions); and ''Veronica's Closet'' (Warner Bros.).

Faroudja's Digital Format Translator provides a range of modular solutions for the delivery of a variety of digital-television
(DTV) and high-definition-television (HDTV) video formats to help clients provide new digital-television services.
