ICBC price kicked up early today. I presume that it is response to the news I heard on the radio: Astoria is buying LISB (Long Island Savings) in a swap for about 1.5 Astoria shares -- valued at about $69. Havn't checked LISB's book value lately, but this must be almost 5X book!!!!!

(LISB -- another that I sold too soon.)

Charlie.

Gambler, maybe MCBC was a unique situation. I had $1000 on deposit at the time the list was made for conversion stock candidates. The bank is very new, just started doing business in Nov of 97'. They have only 3 branches today with only 2 more planned in near future. Only 750,000 shares were offered to the public. I believe that great consideration was given to locality of the investor. The brokerage representative told me that I was lucky that I got 100 shares. I think this is a crock of ^%$^*% but what can I do.

Somebody sent me some good sites to do some research, Thanks a lot,

Rich
