OT Ken, I still advocate a buy and hold philosophy -- even with the umbrella of the Roth IRA - because I'm pretty well convinced that tradng in its two guises, value investing and market timing, doesn't work. I would like to correct one point you made concerning the tax liability under the new Roth IRA. If you convert your old IRA this year you get to spread the taxable income over the next four years -- not the tax. Thus, if tax rates change (either up or down) you will feel the effects.
