Yesterday was an exciting day.

In the morning, I attended the last domestic "Executive Briefing" on SecurSight 2.0 which has been held in many cities across the US in the last several months and I agree with Bulldozer that "SDTI will soon launch one of the (if not THEE) most significant integrated security suite's in the world."

In the afternoon, I took advantage of the big dip in SDTI stock price to reduce my cost basis for this stock.

I do think however that you are hitting the nail on the head, Trader Dave, when you state that "We do clearly have product transition issues to face. One of the comments I read is that the bulk of the secursight roll out isn't due until 4q '98. It raises the question of whether any customers might hold off on ace/servers and tokens to wait for an easier to manage integrated product line."

Unfortunately, the earnings announcement overshadowed a significant Tuesday announcement thet "AOL Enterprise Announces New Remote Internet Access Services in Partnership With Leading Security Companies ... Joins Forces With Leaders Security Dynamics, Aventail". This story is located at:

There are clearly transition issues - more than I had envisioned. However, this is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it certainly causes concern short-term. On the other hand, there seems to be strong interest from SDTI's current and new customers for this integrated suite and once we get past this transition, things look awfully good.

It is important to remember that lots of investors have made LOTS of money investing in well run, well positioned companies (ie MSFT, INTC, CSCO) when their stocks fell due to product transition periods. SDTI may offer a similar compelling investment case.

In the meantime, visibility is clouded. For long term investors though, this may be a great buying opportunity.
