>>That's strange, I swear I have been beta testing a number of software packages I bought from the retail store. Because months after I bought them, patches come out. Patch versions 1,2,3 and so on, ranging in the size of 5-13 megs.<<

Hmmm. You must be using Microsoft products.

IOM has to reduce price. They are locked into advertising contracts until May, so that is that. But Sierdk must get that 6 sigma quality program rolling. this lower demand volume is a good break for him to shut down assembly lines, train people, and get yields up to 97%. I don't believe they are anywhere NEAR 80% 1st pass yield (product built without any defects) on drives.

so process yield improvements should pay for retail/wholesale price reductions.

and if you guys haven't noticed, IOM has been doing marketing studies with these special deals all over the internet (at lease i hope they are). I mean, Rocky's post of $59 jaz1 disks, a pricing $20 below CDW... its a great way to judge elasticity of demand/price , no?

IOM's problem is PRICE, PRICE, PRICE

zip at $59, jaz at $159, jaz 2 at $259

buy castlewood

build MR 5.6 gig drive.

then lower the price 20% in 1999.
