Accumulation = noun 1. material collected: mass: an accumulation of beans. His accumulation of paper filled three boxes. synonym: aggregation. 2. Figurative; a collecting together; amassing/: the accumulation of useful knowledge is one result of reading synonym: ammassment. 3. growth by continuous additions, as the addition of interst to principal. synonym: accrual, accretion.

Accumulation is when big money players are anticipating a large movement in the stock (up) andbuy in relatively small chunks to get a lot of stock without running the price up. Also, when you get accumulation you build a base because you get a fresh group of shareholders in at that level.
