There are people there who get around by horse and cart. comparing the US to that part of the world is ludicrous. All this hoopla over Japan...their unemployment rate is lower than ours and there hasn't even been a confirmation that they are in a recession although that is probably true. They are an inward looking country in a global economy. The 1987 crash was a minor blip.
