A few suggestions: For methods: 1. Malliaris, Brock. 1991. Stochastic Methods in Economics and Finance North Holland: New York. 2. Campbell, Lo, MacKinlay. 1996-7?. The Econometrics of Financial Markets. Princeton University Press. For what's new in field 3. Journal of Finance. Go to a library and look... Check out cboe and cbot sites for downloadable software...cbot even has GARCH models...
