Theres a difference. This exercising of options or whatever, goes to the companys coffers. The money keeps the company alive, and chugging. If the insiders are doing this, its only because they dont have any other FAVORABLE funding option in the light of their recent mixed results for memantine. They believe in their drug, they want to reach the next milestone without diluting the shareholders and their position, but it doesnt change the fact that it could still be boom or bust.

Now if these insiders were buying from the open market, then thats insider buying, the money wouldnt go to the company, and I would be interested...

Lone Wolf,
I see any internal financing as an admission that they have been utterly incapable of raising money externally in a favorable fashion. At this price it would take a steep 144 discount offering to raise any money at all externally.
With all Frieman's money from the Syntex (?) buyout, I'd think he'd have a little bit of money to put behind the company he is running.
So I hardly see internal financing in the favorable light that you do.
Its more an admission that the company has been run into the ground than anything else. And of course, we have yet to see any financing hit the table. As they should be tapped out by now, perhaps operating on bridge financing, maybe we'll hear something this week.
