Marcos, Ole 49r, Tom,
With the Lausanne Conference of 1932, the National Socialists repudiated further reparations arising out of the Treaty of Versailles. The currency crisis which brought Hitler and the National Socialists to power was, I believe, a result of the general economic depression and a world-wide boycott of German products. These factors brought about a dangerous reduction in the German gold reserves. How those gold reserves were replenished, and France's role, I'm not sure, but I believe Hitler proceeded with the confiscation of private and corporate wealth with the rationale that unearned income should become the property of the Reich.
