Good questions.

I don't know how widely this type of release is. Clearly to clients who are interested at UBS, us and hopefully soon from a release by GTE. I am not sure if it was GTE or ASND that did the release about GTE's testing, but that was a press release item. Meaning general market information.

The clients usually want to be the ones talking about their purchases and often require that the vendor not be able to make press releases is what I get told by IR when I ask this question.

The recommendation as a "hold" might be changing. This report was a clip from a CSCO report which has CSCO at a "Buy" rating, and was met to be an update on that security and not ASND. I would guess that with earnings so close, and sell side analyst getting burned on recommendation so near earnings, that they will wait to change until after Thursday's earnings release. My guess is a good conference call will go far....

Peace, love and taxes...I think I'll go work on mine, Dennis

A brokerage having a hold does not necessarily mean that they (their clients) are not buying. When the time comes they will upgrade to a buy in the 40's and will anyone really think they have just begun to buy then ? Not really.

Robz,
This news is IMO the reason the stock has been strong. It shows that Ascend can go toe to toe w/ Cisco and win. This has got to be a little bit of an embarassment for Cisco. As for the hold by UBS, their analyst is Nick Theodopolis, he is more of a traders analyst and uses more TA than most. I don't think he'll raise until the stock breaks clear of resistance.
