I think they short towards the End of Month to increase their cash position to make their books look better. Then buy it up after people get discouraged and sell off.

I agree that book value is not necessary to determine stock price proportionally. But here we are talking about that MDCE is being traded at 5% (maybe less like 3%) of its book value. I do believe earnings (more cash) and tangible assets will be key to the stock price.
