The semi-equips continued their winning ways this week with a 4
percent increase. Last week was the first winning week after 3 weeks
of losses. There were 25 gainers, 7 losers, and 5 unchanged. Two
stocks, IMSC and KLIC (there may have been more) announced less than
expected results for the coming quarter(s). They were among the
losers for the week, but it did not appear to negatively affect the
other stocks.

Martin Whitman and the Third Avenue Value fund and his related entities own almost 20% of the outstanding shares now. This guy has been around a long time, and has consistently beat the market with his long term value based selection criteria looking for growth. Unlike most overpaid mutual fund gunslingers this guy is a find a good company that is undervalued, buy it, and hold type of investor. Portfolio turnover is very low last I looked. Our type of guy.

I can't tell from this 13 G/A filing whether they are increasing or decreasing their holdings - I have a feeling last I looked they owned an interest here but not 20%, but need to get into another data base off the internet I use to check that ownership.

By the way, if you check out a few of the links on the Edgar page you can sign up to have all SEC filings on companies in your portfolio e-mailed to you the day of the filing, for free. Has been a neat service, you can really keep up with what is going on.
