Very good point. But, I'd like to add that paper trading is one thing. Timely execution is another -- if you're wanting to daytrade. After proving your abilities on paper, perhaps the next step is to daytrade, but use very small sums of money. This allows you to exercise your relationship with your broker. Will they be responsive enough? Might you have to consider another brokerage?

Just another step to consider.
