CHICAGO, April 3 (Reuters) - EVEREN Securities said Friday
it initiated coverage of Wind River Systems Inc with an
intermediate term market performer rating and a long term
outperform.
-- Says demand for company's products is strong, it has an
"enviable" cash position of $161.7 million.
-- Estimates fiscal 1999 earnings per share of $0.84.
-- Has short term stock price target of $45 and long term
target of about $60.
-- Shares of the software development company were down 1/8
at 38-3/8 in afternoon trading.

IMHO, Wind must do 3 things to continue their lead over Microsoft in RTOS:

1) Continue development so their technology remains superior
2) Push sales aggressively
3) Compete aggressively with Microsoft on price.
