SW, I've been using Etrade for a year now and have had every trade (around 2 per day) go through within seconds - usually by the time I pull up the next page my new message is there. As far as pulling up the pages (Main Menu), I have noticed a great increase. Part of the help came from Etrades system upgrades and expansion but the rest probably comes from using a 56k modem. No complaints here.

I have used E*Trade since the start of 96 and I'm not only happy with it lately, I'm impressed.

As to the future, E*Trade is clearly emerging as the internet "brand" in brokerage. They have decided (wisely, I think) not to join the fray of seeing who can offer on-line trading the cheapest. For all but the smallest of accounts, saving an extra 5 or 8 bucks on a trade is pretty meaningless.
