I have faith in the team, but I doubt that we'll see a truely stable JDK untill late this year, and developers should be aware of any showstoppers. I sometimes question their priorities when I hear about the new APIs and products, but then again, I didn't pay anything for this software.

As far as the last point is concerned, yeah you did. It sounds like a process problem, not a talent problem. Even if they're under the gun to get components completed, we can rest assured they are, there's no excuse for materially buggy releases. That's a recipe continued delays and compromised software designs. I hope that's not the case but they better not be saving two days now only to be spending two months down the road to fix it.
