I love this thread. This is the sanest thread on SI. I know I said that already, but it is twoo.

Young Luke, (I call him Bubby a lot, too) learned "Star Light, Star Bright" tonight. He really liked it. When we got to the part about the wish, I had to explain it 3 times, but he got it.

He wished for "root beer soda", and "happy". That's a wish.

It may be all this talk of opera, but as I sit here with my coffee, I am inspired to compose a melody for those stirring lyrics you located. The tune has come to me fully formed, perfectly balanced, a complex construction of sequences and variations. I believe it may be a divine gift and I hasten now to notate it before it fades. Although it is so brilliantly memorable I have a feeling I'll be singing it all day.
