Yes, this is a conservative strategy. I intend to play the PYT game in a slightly different manner. I will rather cash my holdings outside my pension plan, while letting the RRSP portion run. This way all the capital gains within my RRSP are tax-sheltered.and I can still transfer 75% of my capital gains from the margin account into RRSP and keep the remainder - 25%- tax free. I still have some RRSP room left, especially in my wife's account.

See, another factor is, that I bought my RRSP stock at 1.40. Just before the run up. So, on one hand, I can loose measly several thousands if PYT is a bust, on the other, I might be able to finance my retirement by sitting tight.

This is a gold bug play. A crazy one. But it might work. I just bought the ticket.
