Mike, Fidelity Investments allows covered calls against shares and long puts and calls in IRA accounts. I've utilized this to benefit from volatility of stocks. My IRA accounts are at Fidelity and my regular accounts are at Schwab. And I'm gonna find a more cost-effective outfit for trading accounts.

Options trades that require a margin account cannot be done since IRA accounts are not allowed margin status. A matter of interpretation of IRS regs.
