What do we really expect from the future?

3-D, holograms or VRD; I doubt we can manage to fathom what lies ahead, but let's make some guesses:

VRD represents -as of today- a fabulous notion. No use of a projected image that the eye has to see and the brain to interpret indirectly. All's down to the quality of the light you beam in to the retina, and 'fool the system'. As long as we think in terms of uses, the light has to be projected from somewhere, i.e. glasses or a helmet. I suppose that the further away you get from the emitter, the more difficult it will be to hit the right spot on the eye. That should also mean that you can't share information between several people without equipping all with VRD glasses. Take the hologram: There shouldn't be anything wrong in imagining a group of people in a circle, 'watching' an object in the centre by VRD, all seeing it from their proper angle. Takes some computer power, but why not. IMO, compared to holograms, VRD would be a step backwards in the sence that you need hardware (glasses) to perceive the image or information. On the other hand, you are probably capable of displaying more advanced information that way. As far as I gather, holograms are quite static. Example? Well, what about engineers creating a new car. All the data for the new model are dispalyed in live 3-D in a way that they can walk around it, looking at all sorts of details. Wearing VRD glasses.

What I'm trying to express, is that the hardware is a handicap, stricktly in the ideal sence of the utility. IMO, the ideal way of presenting information, would be making data and information available as the eye and brain perceives it, but without the means of beams, displays or screens. Should anybody come up with that kind of tachnology (whatever that might imply) MVIS would have to do some rethinking. I don't know how such information can be made, but I'm obviously talking about some way of transmitting electronic pulses directly in to the brains 'eye-centre'. See what I mean?

Maybe the basic ideas MVIS are working with can be developed into that area -in the year 2045 or so-
