PvW,

Recommended reading for all 'thread attendees'!

The question is which industries will be good investments for the transition. I expect that DELL would be able to meet the parameters, but their 'customers' might not, and therefore sales might drop! I also expect that in the near future, sales will 'ramp up' some as the companies get their IS departments in compliance, hardware wise, and they attack their 'software' and other problems. I asked the 'trading' house that I deal with, and there will be some testing started in March of 1999 to see if the stock markets and banks can handle the problem. There is a real possibility that these 2 entities (markets, banks) might be able to achieve success. The problem here is that while being 2K compliant, it will only allow trading to take place as the market drops.

A problem that wasn't brought out in the articles was that even if you are 2K compliant, while you are interfacing with a non-2K compliant system, your system can be taken out of compliance! (By accepting a file from another system.)

Maybe bank stock (pthooy) might be a place! Jez, how I hate banks!

Thoughts?

Regards,

Ken

Paul,

I guess that is why the DDIM, ZITL and VIAS are doing so great! That is for those of us that are short the stocks! Dec. 31, 1999 will come and go as if nothing ever happened, and if does happen I plan on being on a cruise ship bringing in the new millennium!

Hank
P.S.-Paul covered my VIAS short Fri. at $17 1/2, some shares have been shorted since 1996 with an avg. price of $54!
