Dearest Mark,
I believe Jesus would just walk away from the other beiefs and not accept them. People came to Him from other beliefs like the woman at the well who was a Samaritan and she said you Jews tell us we should worship on that Mountain and He said " You Samaritans worship what you do not know, we worship what we do know for salvation is from the Jews. He goes on to say a time is coming when people will worship God in Spirit and truth and He is that truth from His own claims.
He sent out disciples to the surrounding towns and told them when they entered a house to bring their peace with them and if they did not accept their peace (Jesus) then shake the dust from your feet and move on. See there is no force in Him, He is a gentleman and will just move on not join in. All the other Spiritual leaders can be put together but by Jesus own words He has to be considered on His own words. This is only how I see what He has said. Have a great Saturday, Nancy

mark, if Jesus was on the earth today , then HE would be given death by injection and the symbol of christainity wouldn't be a cross.
It would be a little syringe<ggg>
I can see it now. A large syringe in every church.
I wonder if the syringe would be full or empty...I think empty<ggg>
maybe a few drops falling off the end.

But, Jesus would still love.I think you need to read scripture.
Jesus was very loving to everyone EXCEPT RELIGIONS. WHEN HE GOT AROUND RELIGIOUS PEOPLE THEN HE RUBBED THEM ALL THE WRONG WAY SINCE GOD PREFERS A LOVING RELATIONSHIP NOT A RELIGIOUS ONE.
Most the contesting in scripture was when Jesus was put unto by religion.

It is true that if Jesus could come back to earth then most churches would throw Him out<ggggg>

In fact I hate religion.

religion that says to the sinner God hates you
religion that says to the AIDS patient God is killing you for your sin
religion that says to the hungry...let me pray that you be filled..
....instead of buying them something to eat
religion that says to the drug addict clean your life up and God will
take you then
religion that says that if you go to church you go to Heaven
religion that does good works to feel holy

religion religion religion is a cancer that needs
to be exorcised out of the church.

If you will read Jesus. He only got mad when He got around religion.

peace

Mark:

You wrote:

"Using his [referring to Jesus] life as an example, what do you think he would do?"

You are moving in the right direction, Mark, and I am most impressed that you would consider asking this important question. There is a wonderful work of fiction that was first published in 1897 in which the author, Charles M. Sheldon, asked the now famous question: "What would Jesus do?" You may have seen some people wearing pieces of jewelry with "WWJD" on them. It is a reference to Sheldon's famous question. The title of the book is "In His Steps." It is a Christian classic and I highly recommend it to you. You can find it in paper back at most (if not all) Christian bookstores. The book examines how asking and earnestly and sincerely trying to answer the question and then living the answer can change lives.

In Christ, Tom

"Emile is way wrong when he says that to respect another religion is to disrespect Jesus."

Mark,

I find you generally accurate in your quotes, but you have misquoted me this time.
What Emile really said is that a Christian cannot respect another religion that denounces Jesus as an impostor and a liar.

Modern Judaism teaches that Jesus was an impostor and not the Son of God. No real Christian can respect such a religion.

Islam teaches that Jesus was not the Son of God who died for the sins of mankind. No real christian can respect such a religion.

To show respect for Islam or modern Judaism would be to show disrespect for Christ.

reúspect ( r1-spækt") v. tr. reúspectúed reúspectúing reúspects 1. To feel or show deferential regard for; esteem. 2. A feeling of appreciative, often deferential regard; esteem. See note at regard . 3. The state of being regarded with honor or esteem. 4. Willingness to show consideration or appreciation.

"If Jesus where here on earth today, would he want you to show disrespect to others beliefs, or show them a helping hand?"

Jesus would want you to show disrespect to others beliefs if they teach you to deny Jessus as the divine Son of God who died for the sins of all men.
When a religion teaches people to deny Christ, they are teaching the essence of hatred against men and desrespect for God. Hatred against men because they cut them off from the love and redemption that God has offered through His Son Jesus.
The essence of disrespect against God because they both reject and teach others to deny His words and his works in the salvation of mankind.
They are in essence calling God a liar.

How can you respect the flat earth theory when you know the earth is round.

How can you respect religions that teach fables and untruths about the
reality that Jesus is the Son of God who was crucified and died for the sins of mankind. How can you respect a religion that would tear men away from their only hope to make them believe in false theories and myths about Jesus.
