Frost & Sullivan: Analog vs. High Speed Modems: Which Modem
Technology Will Best Lead Your Company to Success?
02:13 p.m Apr 06, 1998 Eastern

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- After years of
analog modems being the only viable option for data transmission, will
high-speed modems soon take over the modem market? This seems to
be the big question puzzling all companies participating in this industry.

According to recent strategic research by Frost & Sullivan, the U.S.
Desktop Modem Market generated $1.27 billion in revenues in 1997,
up 24 percent from 1996. Revenues are forecast to grow continuously
through the forecast year of 2004, driven by factors such as increased
Internet usage, increasing number of telecommuters, arrival of a 56
kbps modem standard from the International Telecommunications
Union (ITU), and the shift from analog to high-speed modems.
