michael,

I'd have to concur with your views. I believe the move up last week in the group was premature. I have added to PUT positions in AMAT KLAC and initiated MOT puts when it jumped this past week. Taking into consideration the lack of visibility in the sector, coupled with the lofty levels of the overall market, I too believe that for the short term there is $ to be made on the downside. I noted some strength in SFAM for the first time in a while yesterday...Any thoughts? NVLS rumors again...Might be worth a few calls if indeed the rumors pan out as the premium to current price would (should) be substantial...

Hello Michael. I'm back in KLIC as of Wednesday and ready to cut my wrists as of Friday. But, if the market is truly forward looking, it would seem, that in the absence of any more bad news (a big if), the 1999 estimated eps should translate into a stock price of 27 to 32 (PE of 15 to 20). I guess I'll hold, but I wish I knew what it was about the semiconductor equipment makers that keep drawing me back to get my stomach churned.
