CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES EXPANDS PRESENCE
IN U.S. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MARKETPLACE

Company Opens Federal Region Office to Support Security Needs of U.S.

Federal Government Customers

Redwood City, Calif. -August 12, 1996-Check Point Software Ltd., a leader in
network security software, today announced that it has further expanded its North
American organization with the formation of its U.S. federal region office in
Alexandria, VA. The primary focus of the federal region office is to support the
network security needs of U.S. federal agencies through sales, channel
development, and customer support services.

The new office is headed by David Steinberg, federal region manager. Prior to
joining Check Point, Steinberg was vice president of Bay Networks federal systems
region, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and support for the U.S.
federal government market.

"The growing adoption of Intranets and Internet technologies among government
organizations has created a need for comprehensive security solutions in the federal
market," stated Dr. Deborah Triant, CEO and president of Check Point Software
Technologies, Inc. "The formation of the federal region office enables Check Point to
better serve its U.S. federal customers and focus on addressing the specific needs
of government agencies--many of whom have very strict security requirements."

As you can see, this info is a year and half old. Of course they are going to try to sell to the fed govt. But it doesn't seem to have made much progress or they would have said so.
What I'm trying to say is that politics & lobbying will be more crucial than whether they have the best product or not.
Be real-do you honestly think Congress is going to let an Israeli company be in charge of the federal governments computer security needs?
The government likes the best technology? John Glenn said it best when he commented that he was taking off into space with the low cost bidder.
