Jules Re: Y2k

I also see a drastic need for investment for the Y2k problem. However, why would the focus be on hardware? The Y2k problem resides not in hardware but in software.

If a companies IT budget requires this situation to be fixed why would the budget be increased for hardware also?

I suspect that the trend will be for the hardware aspect of the budget to be cannibalized for the sake of the software fix.

Of course I could be wrong and all of the companies out there will just open their checkbooks and say "go ahead and spend as much as you want for anything you want." But I don't think so.

Jules. Re: "...fortified by Barrett's prognosis, I am now adding to my overall Intel core position." I, too, am optimistic for the 2nd half. The only possible fly in the ointment is IMHO, Japan. Everything I read is negative and if they lack the political will to get their economy going again, it probably will put a drag on Intel's 2nd half sales.
