Sector?

What's up? Not sure what the intent of your message was but I'll once again attempt to provide some useful information. Again like you, I'm sure others on this thread will take exception, but be that as it may, I'll do it anyway..

First.. regarding the UBS thing. Yes, I was unaware of the issues at GTE until they were raised here...and I had my doubts. That day I completed some quick dd and found this information to be correct. Now, I'm involved with a number of large opportunties with a variety of companies and I don't "touch" each of these everyday. In the case of GTE I hadn't touched base in a few weeks and was therefore unaware of the situation. I did discuss this issue with the folks that know what's going on, provided that information here, which of course it was ignored. No problem. If I were married to this stock I might ignore the wart as well.

Glad to see the understanding is there. Guess all that leaves is a good competitive product, huh? This year, you think?

What's this about? Sector, how old are you? Would it be asking too much to ask you to act it? Perhaps you should double check who's got what business where. Ascend is far from owning the backbone...as is Cisco. There are a number of players which also include NT and LU. I won't go into market share or technology (notwithstanding the BPX/Axis, and the 12000 which are winning a number of accounts - many traditional ASND accounts - read ISP's) but the market is far from being tied up by ASND and if you were smart you'ld spread your money. But Sector, I have a feeling that your too immature to figure this out.

<So, Scott, I understand your defensiveness. But, the world is more than just GTE, more than just WAN switches and RAS.>>

But Gary, thats just about all that ASND does.

Geez,,what happens if ASND begins losing business in these only two segments. Doesn't sound like their too diversified ;O Also I should point out that carriers are looking to multiservice and value services. Deployment of RAS is becoming more commodity (low margin) driven. As for backbones.... well my good friend there a lots of wins every year and ASND will get some as will CSCO, LU, NT, etc.. I'm glad you're keeping track of ASND's...

what a powerful summary:

But Gary, thats just about all that ASND does. I'm glad that CSCO can afford to lose those two areas to ASND and still do well. Still, a $100M+ GTE contract here, $150M Williams contract there, $100M+ NTT contract, plus AT&T too, and don't forget about Telesys, France Telecom and the rest of Europe, and China too, and pretty soon that adds up to real money, no? - sector investor
