Bill:

Having lived in Ohio all of my life, I can tell you how many years the Tribe languished in the cellar. Management(not the ones at the helm now) was accused of trading away or selling all of their good talent. Today, we hear that "none of the teams are making any money" and the players are paid too much" etc etc etc. But there are enough fools out there who will fork over money for this which will only benefit management. Bring up the name Art Modell(owner of the Cleveland Browns now Baltimore Ravens) in Cleveland and watch out. They still love to hate him there and he's been gone several years.

Scott

Which would you rather invest in, a sports franchise with identifiable costs and revenue or a biotech/Internet wannabe turkey with grandiose dreams?

I'd be happy to invest in several major sports franchises. I'd be even happier if I could find shares of AMZN to short. I already have ZONA puts.

The Boston Celtics (BOS) seem to bee a reasonable investment over the last 10 years. It currently returns about a 5% dividend, and has appreciated at 20%/year since 1988.
