Fujitsu PC Corp. Incorporates Agate Technologies'
"Warm Swap" Software in New LifeBook Notebooks

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1998--Fujitsu PC Corp. (FPC) has teamed
up with Silicon Valley-based Agate Technologies Inc. to enhance the quality of mobile computing in
the corporate marketplace.

The latest additions of their LifeBook Family of notebook computers include a customized version of
Agate's Tioman ProSwap software that provides ''warm swap'' functionality. Warm swapping
enables customers to quickly and conveniently exchange multiple devices without having to shut the
system down.

Each new LifeBook features Multi-function Bays where users can exchange several components,
including the standard lithium ion battery, floppy disk drive, 20x max CD-ROM drive, an optional
second hard disk, optional ZIP drive and battery. As users exchange these devices, the customized
version of Tioman ProSwap simplifies and speeds installation of each device.

ProSwap automatically detects, configures and identifies the device, and creates an icon in the user's
Windows ''My Computer'' folder. Before the user removes the inserted device from the LifeBook's
Multi-function Bay, the software verifies that files are closed and automatically prepares the device
for removal.

''We are further extending our LifeBook Family of notebook computers to the corporate customer
who requires an individualized combination of portability, built-in-manageability, high-performance
and reliability,'' said Sara Nelson, senior manager of product marketing for FPC. ''FPC and Agate
are working together to enhance our customers' mobile computing needs.''

''Our relationship with a leading manufacturer such as FPC will enable our company to leapfrog
competitive alternatives in the mobile computing arena,'' said Howard Johnston, vice-president of
OEM sales for Agate Technologies in Silicon Valley. ''We are excited about this partnership and
feel that FPC's new LifeBooks will help pave the way for future applications of our ProSwap device
bay technology.''

Fujitsu PC Corp. was formed in February 1996 by a $36 billion worldwide IT conglomerate,
Fujitsu Limited of Japan, to expand its business into the North American PC market. Chartered with
providing quality mobile computing solutions that meet and exceed the demands of mobile
professionals in the United States, FPC introduced the LifeBook Family Series of high-performance
notebooks that seamlessly integrate into an individual's life. FPC has design headquarters in Milpitas,
and Japan, a manufacturing facility in Hillsboro, Ore., and a service support center in Memphis,
Tenn.

For additional information on FPC and its products, users can visit the company's Web site at

Founded in 1996, Agate Technologies is a pioneer in the design and development of removable
storage solutions for notebook and PC applications. Agate is the first company to provide OEMs
with software and hardware solutions that enable users to ''hot swap'' or ''warm swap'' IDE and
ATAPI devices such as the ZIP, LS-120, MO, TR-4 devices or a second hard drive.

With headquarters in Fremont, Calif., Agate is positioned in manufacturing, marketing, sales, and
development support in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

OT..Trufflette, do you remember what the market psychology was attendant to the strong tech stock (and moderate market) decline in the Feb-April period last year. (I can't really.)

Very little tech stuff was immune then.

Obviously looking for signposts.
