Sandie, Sandra, all Interesting topic about GTE and cable modems This was out Friday 4/3 American Online (AOL) announced today that it will begin testing GTE's high speed digital subscriber line service in selected markets. Running over regular phone lines, DSL can provide connections up to 25 times faster than a 28.8 kps modem. AOL will also develop content that will take advantage of the high speeds. DSL is one of the emerging technologies that companies are using to battle bandwidth bottlenecks.
