You are right. Barron's did yawn, and I too wasted 3 bucks, and it
wasn't even put together well. I agree that it is a good
contrary indicator. Ole Louie Ruckeyser did have a few kind
words about this commodity that he loves to hate so much!

However, if and when we see an ingot on Barron's or Fortune's front
page, it might be time to run for the hills.
Incidentally, can the runup in gold continue beyond the widely
anticipated EMU announcement sometime in May regarding the gold-backed
currency, or will there be selling on the news?

One small item vis a vis the EMU that I hadn't considered:
there apparently is a fair amount of gold and jewelry that is
being bought in Europe, inasmuch as the Lira, etc., are scheduled
to disappear in a 3 year period. This is said to be related to the
black market activity that may account for up to 20 % of transactions
in some of these countries.
