Thanks for your CLARIFICATION of Statement 1, Richard.

At least now I'm getting a better idea your thinking. However, you must admit it is quite a tailored answered from your initial blanket statement "I don't think that Oracle and Sun have much of a chance against Microsoft - Compaq or IBM."

To be honest, I still find your comments somewhat cryptic. I still don't understand whether you're talking about databases or applications or operating systems or what. From my perspective you're all over the board trying to prove a point -- that ORCL is doomed.

It would be helpful if your comments were a bit more organized. If I gathered one thing from conversing with you on this thread, is that you have have a tendency to express thoughts without providing the reader a little bit of background of exactly what you are talking about. This is the reason for my initial response to your first post. You probably think everyone knows exactly what's on your mind.

Please note I am not in the hi-tech business, but I possess an engineering degree so I am capable of understanding technology. I won't be offended if you respond on too elementary level. What I'm really interested in is trying to understand what you're talking about. Maybe someone else on the thread with better commmunications skills translate to me what Richard's argument is. Thanks in advance.
