Hi Scott. You seem to know about the various Cdn brokers and rates. With respect to the following which Cdn discount brokers offer the best rates and service in your opinion?

a) Shorting stocks - Which (if any) of the Cdn disc brokers let you short stocks via internet trading and if so at what commis %/$$? Also, do any of the disc brokers allow shorting via internet of VSE or ASE stocks?

b) Margin requirements - Does any disc broker allow you to buy VSE/ASE stocks on margin? I use RB Action Direct and only TSE/MSE allowed.

c) Stop loss, etc - Do any of the disc brokers allow you to place stop loss or other types of special orders via the internet at their lower commis rates? Again RB Action Direct does not support this from what I can gather. I have always had to pay the much higher commis for this type of order (and only TSE/MSE stocks allowed also).

Comments from anyone appreciated.
Please let me know if there is another thread here on SI that discusses these questions already.

thanx

Yes, not being able to initiate a short on the internet and their commissions for shorts are the only only problems I have with Greenline. If you are day trading, putting in a short on the phone is much too slow. What I've been doing, though, is putting in 3 or four shorts at a high price in advance, and then changing the price at the last minute when you want the trade to go through. That way you can still use the internet to pull the trigger on a short.
