I knew that would get your goat. I think that Intel has reached a plateau, and lower earnings and a decline will make it drop. This FCC rule to allow local telcos to charge 9 cents per minute will imoact the web dramatically, so much so that it will be softened, but even 1 cent per minute will have a chilling effect. 60 cents per hour for a 2 hour a day user(like me) will turn to $36 plus taxes per month. SInce most now pay $10-25 per month for assorted time access(10 hours to no limit) it will triple to quintuple costs.
To be sure Wave cable modem will love it and in areas where they co-exist wave will grab share. Most other areas have only the telcos.
One hopes that the FCC will allow this fee only in areas where there is wave competition and forbid it in monopoly areas.
