Wisam,

Canadians are known to pronounce the word about as "aboowt" or "aboot"

They have a similar pronunciation of the "ou" vowel sound in Tidewater Virginia and Charleston, SC. It's not exactly like the Canadian, but pretty close. We used to get mocked by non-Virginians who wanted to know if "the MOH-ss came OH-t of the HOH-ss" (mouse came out of the house). Also received some taunts about the local pronunciation of my home town (NAW-fk). That's Norfolk, in normal speech.

Perhaps because of TV, or the mobile population, Americans seem to be losing much of our regional speech differences. My son, who is at the University of Virginia, tells me that only the "old folks" in Virginia talk "that way" nowadays.
