I know someone whose company competes in, amongst other things, the Year 2000 sector.

I've know him a long time, he's a master marketeer. He also really knows his stuff. I don't know how much he helps his company from a tech point of view; but his dealings with FIDO, Solly, and the like certainly could not have hurt the company's stock price.

Unfortunately, people like this are few and far between. In the case of young tech stocks, like Cymer, Senior Management needs to understand that they need a marketeer (preferably with an engineering background) to really "sell" the bankers on the company.

Being an engineer by training, I understand that this is a difficult concept for Techies to grasp. They think the stock, like the product, is going to sell itself.
