Richard, I read a post on Kitco today which discussed using the ratio between the XAU and spot gold price to clear out of gold stocks. The person who posted used a sell point of .300 and he researched the months preceeding October 1987. Evidently, in September 1987 this ratio was hit and those that cleared out missed the crash. This might be a helpful early warning system.
