MtnBear, thank you, nice contribution. Good place to now do some research on the "below's" to pick the next potential movers. Thanks again.

gold fund/mutual fund/general question/off topic

If someone is knowledgable on this I would greatly appreciate the information! :)
If I want to start a mutual fund such as SCGDX
as a long term investment for someone
how does it work in terms of social security numbers & taxes?
I assume both of our SSN's will be on the application because I will be the one contributing to it. So one person has to do the tax reporting. If the two people listed on the account are of different households, then if I am the one to do the tax reporting and paying any gains, does the other person even have to list this on their tax returns as owning it? Does this differ in any way if the other person is either under 21 or over 21? Secondly, if I want to start a mutual fund for a child, not my own, is there any way to ensure that their parents don't touch the money and that the child can just touch it when they turn 18? Additionally, regarding tax reporting, is there any point in time where I don't bear tax responsibility for the growth & capital gains of that fund when 15 years down the line the fund may be cashed in by this grown child when they go to college? WHO reports the taxes each year, the child's parents or me? Thanks so much for you answer, you can message me privately.
