Sergio

Just read bubbas post. will have to have a Kava Kegger sometime. Sounds like my kinda ride. I did not know you could drink it either.

Bubba-- do you mix it in water or drink it straight. I assume your mixing it as drinking it straight would get very expensive.

The Kava I buy is Waka grade (sic. lateral roots). It is about $30 for a 1/2 pound. You take 2 or 3 tablespoons of powder, throw it in a blender for about three minutes with 3 cups of cold water; then strain the mixture through a tea strainer. Drink the liquid, and to get the most out of the root, re-blend the it.
Your mind remains quite clear. The flavor is extremely earthy. So the extract you bought must have had some additive. There is nothing minty about kava.
That is the modern way to do it. You can buy the extract and get pleasurable effects, I'm sure. But this plant was an integral part of religious ceremonies for Vanuatu, Fiji, and other South Pacific Islands. They used this to alter their perceptions of reality. Not to make them sleep. You can get all kinds of standardized extracts of the kava, but if you get the best grade root (waka) and try it you'll see what I mean and what the Fijians meant, too.
Blowing $30 at a bar gives you a hangover and I just read an article that said 40% of all violent crimes have alcohol as a factor.
I'm sure you would agree that nobody could start a fight because of too much kava.
